The product itself is a good product. However, when I ordered my umbrella what was sent to me was not what was representative of the product I believed to have purchased. Amazon did offer me good alternatives for the return. I just printed out the return label and took the half umbrella to my nearest KOHL's Department store and that was it. KOHL's has a customer service counter specifically for Amazon returnsThe C-Hopetree 9' umbrella is great if you happen to have a Juliet balcony which it's intended for.

The lights are really nice and warm light. My only complaint is that when I start winding it down with the handle, I have to help it go initially by pushing the umbrella down. Then I can wind it down with the handle the rest of the way.

See how it tilts away from my slider? That's because it is heavy and the 20 lb recommended half base I purchased doesn't hold it upright. I bought this to block the sun from my patio slider and keep my kitchen cooler. The umbrella itself is beautiful. If you buy one make sure you get the heavy-duty fabric that this one has. Some are 160g and this one is 250 or 260g. The lights were already charged and working when mine came. It's pretty much perfect. I just hope I will get it to stand upright with the Sundale base that Amazon recommended.Tried shims already. BTW it is aqua not navy.

I suppose this half-umbrella is as good as they get, and we will keep it. Many of us will want the half-umbrella as tight in to the wall as possible, and typically have a table that helps push the pole tight. However, the swivel for moving the umbrella up/down is placed perpendicular to the wall, meaning that your knuckles are at the peril, and you have to bend the pole away from the wall when using the swivel. A parallel mounting of the swivel is of course what’s called for. Well, I know, it’s just a part from the parts bin of the full-umbrella. Furthermore, the bracket connecting the umbrella spokes is made as a half circle. However, with the lack of the counterforce of a full-circle umbrella, the cloth pulls on the outer spokes to sit bent in the bracket and perhaps bend the outer spokes a bit, too. Meaning, the umbrella is a good deal less than a half circle and doesn’t sit tight to the wall. Easily fixable design flaws, but will unlikely be fixed since most consumers don’t care, and the competition is likely the same. See two photos illustrating my points.

This is an edited review. As mentioned below, the first umbrella had lights that didn't work. After lots of personal e-mails between their rep. in China and myself, we were surprised & delighted to receive a whole new umbrella. It works perfectly. These folks were responsive and wonderful to work with. "Emma" told me that they are a Family owned company & try very hard to deliver good service. Wish there were more companies with this attitude about service and product. We love the new umbrella & it works perfect!We like the fabric used for this umbrella. We like the idea of the LED lights. However, we are currently having a problem with the lights not staying on. We have contacted the company directly as suggested in their printed material. I received a personal response within a few hours and the person who sent it has asked us for more details about the problem. Based on the service from them so far, I think they will resolve the issue. The fact that the lights aren't operating properly at the time of this review is the reason I had to rate 4 instead of 5 stars.If we can get properly lighting lights, this is definitely a 5 star item.

This half umbrella is perfect for my small patio behind my townhome to protect my from the sun and falling leaves. Very sturdy in the base I purchased on amazon and has not shifted or tipped once on windy days. I keep it closed when not in use.

I have a small space and really just need my patio door shaded. I still want some light to come in as well.If you want a roof, or metal awnings, this is not for you.If you want an opaque material, this isn't for you either.This is probably best suited for northern climates where you won't actually get cooked by the sun from morning to night, or a big city where it can block some unnecessary people looking down into your space and glare but still want some light, or like me I get some major full sun, but only in the morning. Or some variation of these.I think the look is more practical that super cute, the base I got to go with this is pretty and also a half portion so everything sits against my unit pretty snug. My neighbor thinks it's really cute, so I'm probably naturally more critical.

The umbrella itself seems fine for the cost but I was disappointed that it arrived with 5 or 6 big soil marks on the fabric. It comes in a plastic sleeve and the stains line up while the umbrella is closed, so the soiling had to happen in the manufacturing process or they sent me a used item. It's not worth the hassle to return so I'll try to spot treat the stains otherwise, I'll buy from someone else next time.

I’ve never owned a half umbrella before but I have a balcony that has no roof over it. I bought the half round heavy base and quickly assembled the umbrella and put it in the base and tighten the screw to keep it in the base. Then I opened the umbrella. It’s 9 foot height took it nicely high enough over my sliding doors. I pushed as close to the sliding door as possible. When it was fully opened. It creates a straight line across the patio and walls and doors and extends out in all directions to cover the patio. I thought the pole had the ability to bend but this one does not but the fabric is waterproof and I’m thinking of attaching the flat side to the house with double sided tape to give it extra support and stop water from sliding down behind the umbrella. My situation is perfect for a half umbrella.

A GREAT half-moon sized patio umbrella. This one is identical to the one I purchased at Grandin Road magazine last year, paying twice the amount. The color red of this one was a little more ‘burgundy red’ and not candy apple red, but for the price it is well worth it. Provides a nice look on my upper floor balcony (that has no overhang cover) and everyone compliments us on it.

Exactly what I needed! My balcony and the glass slider face west and get harsh sunlight from noon to sunset. Not a good set up in August.For 17 years I'vee tried roll down blinds, tiltable umbrellas, small market umbrellas, but everything was just the wrong size, or just couldn't position right to block the glare and direct sun. This half umbrella fits in the right place to do the most good. Now I'm looking forward to summer! At last l will be able to use the balcony.

I have a small high balcony off my bedroom, The sun is on it all day and was to hot to enjoy. This umbrella was the perfect choice. I did have to cut about 6" off bottom of pole to have it fit just under my gutter, I have it in the 20lb 1/2 stand. I have been enjoying my balcony since I put this up.

This umbrella had mixed reviews so I was a bit hesitant in buying it. I'm thrilled that I did. I keep it on a narrow lanai at my apartment in Los Angeles. It gets so hot out there, that even growing succulents can be challenging in the summer. I got the turquoise colored umbrella, and it’s absolutely gorgeous. It cools our master bedroom off considerably, and brightens up the entire area. Now I can grow dahlias, Calla lilies, cyclamen, etc. and not have to water them like crazy or hide them under smaller shade umbrellas. I bought it with the half circle base that was recommended, and the umbrella is very, very sturdy. We get extremely strong Santa Ana winds here, and the umbrella holds up to those without having to be lowered during wind gusts. I only wish I had purchased this years ago. I highly recommend it.

I bought this pieces and it came in 4-5 different boxes. Took about 5 hours to assemble once you got the hang of it. Its actually very tedious, but not hard. Once set up it looked great. Loved the different ways you could set it up. But, the cushions were not my favorite. They are a pretty color but are super light and don't stay in place. The cushions would make for great poolside seating with wet bodies sitting on it, but not for comfy patio seating for afternoon naps. I tried looking to see if I could replace the cushions, because the furniture pieces I actually liked. But the cushions are way bigger than a standard cushion and it would cost the amount of the set or even more to have some made. I ended up selling it to a third party because the return policy is a little bit ridiculous. Its not a bad set, it just didn't fit everything I wanted out of outdoor furniture.

I bought 2 tangerine umbrellas to cover my patio garden from Florida sun. My husband pounded a 2 inch PVC pipe into the ground with about 12 inches above and it’s a great base. I did not want added expense of stand. I just ordered a 3rd for over my herb garden. The only drawback is they are fading.That said they look cute and work well.

There is no base included with the umbrella. It needs a Half round base in order to set flush to the house. Also we had to cut the bottom of the lower pole so it would fit under the overhang of the house. A challenging fear for one person. We put it in a solid old umbrella stand and ordered a half round . The umbrella, itself, is awesome. It is very sturdy. It goes up and down easier that a full size umbrella.

I love this umbrella! It is better than an awning, because it has a great look, but can be taken down or put up easily.Blocks the hot Sun from the Windows, plus makes sitting on the balcony a pleasure.Since I’m in a townhouse, this is a way to make my balcony’s more comfortable, without changing the overall look of the building.My neighbors are loving it too. I sense ask five of us will have them soon.I did buy umbrella covers, so when they are closed I can protect them from the elements. I think that was a good investment.

Umbrella held up for two years -- but not as advertised. It is advertised as "Built to last, the UV-resistant polyester canopy resists weather and maintains its color, summer after summer." Well, it faded horribly after only ONE summer on the North side of our apartment (which means not much sun). But we were OK with that. Rich tan or faded tan, it still kept the sun off our little balcony and didn't look terrible. However, the lack of UV resistance became painfully obvious on the first attempt to wash it (after two summers) when it came completely unraveled in the washing machine on the gentle cycle.When I enquired with the seller Castle Creek about if or how I could get a replacement canopy, I was told that "We do not have replacement parts for any merchandise we offer." Additionally, Castlecreek reminded me that the order was two years old. I didn't ask for a replacement for free. And even though "built to last" generally implies more than two years, I realize things wear out -- especially outside. But it really doesn't matter since, by their own admission, they don't offer replacement parts on any merchandise whether it breaks in two years or two weeks.That said, $30 is cheap for an umbrella -- but cheap is what you'll get. Don't expect "built to last..." Caveat Emptor.

Oh I loved my half umbrella. It lasted a good 3 years until my stupid ass inadvertently left it open one day. I live in SC, home of hurricanes, tropical storm force winds, and tornados. Yep...nice little 50mph wind gust picked it up out of the 80lb weighted base and sent it from the back of my condo building to the side of my condo building. Sad to say, it stuck the landing, and one of the arms ripped a hole in the fabric. I could probably fix it if I can find the right kind of rivet. Read again, this is my own damn fault.The material is great, instructions are super easy to follow, its amazing for smaller patios, etc. Great for the price. Just remember to close it on breezy days if you live in hurricane or tropical storm prone areas.

My 2 half patio umbrellas are pretty nice. I liked the color and the shape. They have held up on windy and very sunny days well. I live in the foothills of the Southern California mountains and they have provided the shade I needed. The crank shaft is small rope mechanism and I am very careful of using it because I do not want the rope to break. Hence the 4 star rating. The delivery was as promised, packaged well with all parts included and was easy to remove from the box and install.

I was hoping for more of a turquoise based on the photo. It’s still ok. The fabric also has a fairly loose weave and is probably not waterproof. I will try spraying it with waterproofing.

This umbrella was fantastic. I lived upstairs and had no shade. I bought it for my balcony. It actually covered the whole balcony which was about eight feet wide and six feet long. Very thick durable fabric easy to crank open and closed

These are sturdy and cool concept for small spaces. But 2nd umbrella ordered was different shade of blue even though ordered directly from "buy it again" button. It would also be SO useful if these tilted like most deck umbrellas, as once the sun starts going down, they provide no shade.

I bought this 1 month ago but I didn't put it up cause I needed to wait for the base (which got lost in the mail) and then I needed pliers to tighten the bolts on the base... So it took me a while to finally post up. It gets pretty windy on my deck so I just tried closing it right now and the stupid crank was opening and then closing again, when I turned to open then started closing again. I basically was fighting it to close and the crank being turned both ways was not doing what it was meant to. Cheap, I can no longer return as of literally 2 days ago and I've only had it up for 1 week! Ahhh such waste. I really liked it at cause the material used for the umbrella looks pretty sturdy and it's a nice dark tan color, only reason I'm keeping 3 stars.

This is my second half-round umbrella, and I'll keep buying them. My first lasted a couple of summers, but the fabric doesn't last forever, so I figure this one should last a couple of years as well. This one has withstood some fairly high winds, and the ribs are quite sturdy. Just remember that you'll need a base for it to stand in, and that doesn't come with it. You'll also need a way to secure it to something - mine is secured to the eaves of my house with Velcro straps.

Seems to be made of good material and certainly does the job. I have it over my back door and can now step out without getting drenched when it’s raining and the shade keeps the sun from blasting through the storm door when the back door is open. Definitely happy I bought it.

This is just the umbrella you need for a small condo balcony. It provides shade and a pop of color. Don't forget to order the half-round stand to hold the umbrella in place. When opening the umbrella, be sure to follow the instructions to turn it upside down and shake lightly before opening. We skipped this step and could not get the umbrellas to crank open. When I finally read (and followed) the instructions every thing literally fell into place and the crank mechanism worked great. The shade provided by this umbrella is great and allows us to use the balcony much more. We eat most of our meals outside now.

Great umbrella! It wouldn’t fit in the area needed, as the measurement is not exact. I tried to find another area, but couldn’t, so I need to return. It is sturdy, and appears to be well made.This company is not easy to deal with. I asked for return labels and they want to give me $18 credit if I keep them. I have no use for them & bought 2, so I’m out $80? I have asked them to address the return for over a week now & am getting nowhere. Now I’m working with Amazon to try to resolve this. An a-z claim has been filed.
