If you want a classy, sturdy crank umbrella for a reasonable price do not look any further. Not only did my fiancé have no trouble putting it together, it looks great on our patio! You’ll look at plenty of umbrellas from $100-$600 and you’ll be wondering how much should you pay for some backyard shade...I’m telling you right now I scoured the internet and stores for quality at a reasonable price and finally picked this gem. Great shade most of the day. Umbrella is taller and so sun may have more chance to reach under early in the day. Height is an advantage for my husband. Umbrella has protected us from rain, maybe a few drops inside all summer. Frame is sturdy and I’d say well built, but will also say I had some trouble lining up the two sections of the pole. The two screws would not align at same time, one or the other would align. Measuring, they never would have. I made one of the holes longer with a drill, you may need to send back. Instructions weren’t complete nor detailed. A mosquito screen for this umbrella is specially designed, will cost $$$. A tad wobbly, but holds up to winds up to about 25 MPH while open, I close it when winds expected are over 15 MPH as a precaution. Bought the ABBA umbrella base, large and filled with sand, secured cross metal bae to ground with stakes that look like corkscrews. Opening and closing the umbrella is easy and efficient, system is well made. Thick, heavy metal parts with good hardware. Overall very happy with purchase.

The media could not be loaded. Very surprised with the high quality of this umbrella. For the price, I was expecting something not as nice. Fabric is very thick and stitching is sturdy. I did a short video on showing you what you get when you unbox the umbrella. I wish the sound was a little louder but I video taped it with my iPhone. My bad. As you can see, I love my umbrellas, and this is nicer than my other one because it tilts for better shade coverage. It was even easier to assemble with a solid screw in application that will hold up in any kind of weather. Convenient and long wrap around strap also makes it stay put when it's down for those windy days. Perfect addition to my backyard oasis, where you can't have too much shade in Texas!!

From reading other reviews online, with some people reporting a bad experience, I hesitated to order this. However, I am glad that I decided to order it anyway (most of the reviews are positive), as it seems to be very good quality for its price. It has a nice vent at the top, to help it catch less wind than it otherwise might, but, of course, on a very windy day, it should not be open. The crank for opening and closing the umbrella operates smoothly, and gives a feel of quality. I have not had it long, however, so I cannot say how long it will hold up over time, but it has the look and feel of decent quality, much better than what I would normally expect at the price I paid. It looks very nice on my patio (I bought it in red).If I have problems with it, I plan on updating my review (and possibly changing my rating), but it seems like it is better than one should expect at the price. Of course, I do not expect it to be the best ever made, as that would be ridiculous to have such an expectation for such an inexpensive umbrella, but this, so far, *seems* like it is the best umbrella I have ever owned. Certainly, it is the best looking one.

This has been in use for three years straight. It's sturdy and of high quality, far better than the price would suggest. It works great. The reason for my review at this point is that today for the first time I took the umbrella fabric off because it was mildewed and dirty from three years outside in all seasons. I washed it in the washing machine on warm water with detergent and about 1/2 c of vinegar. Still damp from the washer, it went back on the spokes easily, and looks good as new! I'm so impressed I had to look up this order to relay my gratitude for such a great product. Best Amazon purchase ever!

Folks, these are really pretty awesome. Needing shade on the south facing back porch, I bought 2 of these patio umbrellas and 2 umbrella base planters ( "Abba Patio 30lbs Stainless Steel Sand Filled Square Umbrella Base/Planter with Two Wheels" ) exactly 2 years ago from Amazon.The fabric ( beige ) shows little to no signs of wear and has remained bright in color. The fabric is thick and provides great shade and they look great too. These also seem to be coated that they don't pickup a lot of dirt or bug debris.I am buying a replacement today as a huge wind storm damaged 1 of them when I forgot to close them up before the weather turned. They have been through several breezy days in full open position and had no problems. For the reader's sake - it took 25MPH study wind and higher gusts to knock one of these down and bend the spars that hold out the umbrella. When closed, they have handy velcro sashes built into the top to hold them closed and the wind doesn't effect that way.The handle crank and lifting system works great and they are easy to tilt to an angle if you want. I paid a higher price for these 2 years ago as they have come down from 95$ to 79$. Great deal!!- Bolt

This umbrella is not as durable as the reviews made it sound. I purchased this one because the overall reviews were quite high. My last umbrella lasted over 15 years before I finally decided to replace it. The first problem I noticed right away with the Abba umbrella was that the poles screwed together. On my old one the poles pushed together and a metal button popped through the hole connecting the two. This was a very stable set up. With the poles screwed together I found that the wind would spin the umbrella and start to unwind it from the other pole. I figured I would need to put Lock-Tite on the threads to keep them together. When my wife came home and tried to operate the crank to raise and lower the umbrella, it suddenly let go and dropped on her head. The string holding the carrier had let go and was completely inside the pole. This happened the first day, so I packed it back up and shipped it back. So much for building products that will last for several years. I will say that the turquoise color was very nice and I really didn't want to have to send it back.I tried another umbrella by Abo Gear. It too comes in a bright turquoise color. I was very impressed with this one. It had auto tilt and the poles go together by pushing one pole into the other until the metal button pops out just like my old one. So far, there have been no issues with the Abo Gear umbrella and it appears to be a much higher quality material for the canopy as well.

The umbrella looks and works nicely. We are currently using it in conjunction with a "screen cover" from Haband allowing us to enjoy the outdoors with minimal contact with biting bugs. When fall arrives, we'll remove the screen so we can use the tilt feature as well.

The pole is powder-coated STEEL, not ALUMINUM!! I used the umbrella with the base of the pole submerged in one foot of water in the shallow end of our pool for 7 days. The bottom of the pole rusted and is beginning to split. The product description clearly states that the pole is aluminum. FALSE PRODUCT ADVERTISING. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

We've had our umbrella for over 6 weeks now. Delivery was timely and assembly was easy. My assembly took longer, because we dont have room for the stand and I got some blocks and U-bolts, and attached to my deck post. See pic for how I did it... works great and very sturdy. Fits our space perfectly and the sun sets in the direction that the tilt feature works like a charm.Very happy with the materials and functionality, but keep in mind that this is essentially a 9'x12' KITE with long aluminum arms, attached to a single post at one side of it, so dont expect to keep it up in winds much over 10-15mph. I'm not putting it to the test with anything higher, because it does start to twist up on one end and I'm not trying to break it! Also, so far, the fabric has provided mostly rain "resistance". It's not totally waterproof, because there are a few spots near the center where drips make it through, but all in all, it keeps 90% of what's under it dry. Light diffusion through the fabric during full sun is very pleasant as well.

Poor Quality! This umbrella arrived with many holes (see pictures) - which were only noticeable after it was set up. I contacted the manufacturer and they told me they couldn't help me because I purchased this product from Amazon. I tried Amazon, and they were only able to offer a small discount. I had no choice but to accept the discount because the cost of hiring someone to take down, disassemble and repackage this enormous umbrella would cancel out the majority of the return credit. It is not acceptable when a manufacturer does not stand behind their product. I have been an Amazon customer for 10+ years and purchased thousands of items and this is the first review I am writing because of my high disappointment with the product quality and the subsequent response.

The umbrella was surprisingly easy to assemble and looks great up! However, although I knew this umbrella didn’t come with a weighted base I still think it looks a little incomplete/cheap to be without one. I bolted mine to my deck so it’s more secure than the weights would’ve been, but I don’t care for the sight of the exposed base...Also, I’m deducting one star because the umbrella doesn’t rotate around like other comparably priced umbrellas do. It does tilt up/down, but not rotate in a circular direction which I’ve used with other umbrellas as the sun moves.

SCREWED AGAIN….. BUYER BEWARE… BOGUS ADVERTISMENT. Returned one thought I was being extremely careful with new order evidently not. This is NOT an Abba patio umbrella nowhere does it state on the umbrella it is an Abba patio where an emblem should be on the crank a metal identifying thus umbrella. I have an Abba patio umbrella from a different site that umbrella is labeled with a metal identification tag and when I did receive they sent a couple catalogs of their other products the quality from the material of the umbrellaTo the frame it’s nothing like the umbrella I received. I have to give it a one star otherwise my request would not be submitted otherwise I would not have rated this at all. material is frayed. I’ll be shocked if it lasts a month. The umbrella looked beautiful and, at just under $160, was a very reasonable price for what we were looking for.So we were initially happy with it; however, a few days after putting it up, it broke. In the first wind of any magnitude, it bent severely (even though the umbrella itself was down at the time, the frame bent), and it became unusable.Bad luck? Or poor quality? Check the other reviews. But odds suggest the latter, as it was not a big windstorm, and we had not used it for long.Because it was broken, Amazon handled the return magnificently with no reshipping charges or restocking fees, as it always seems to, so it was just a minor inconvenience and disappointment to us. No complaints on that front (which is precisely why I am willing to buy even higher end products on Amazon.) But given my experience with it breaking so soon after we got it, I cannot recommend this umbrella; that is, unless you live in magically windless area.

This umbrella is so beautiful. The only thing is that it does not come with anything to bolt the bottom part down. So when the umbrella is open, the smallest wind gust will blow it over, now I'm nervous to have it open until I find the right sized bolts. If I would have known that it didn't come with a heavy bottom, or even just bolts, I would have ordered elsewhere. It is very pretty though!Update:Very disappointed. This happened after a small wind storm. (Maybe 20mph) I can't even use this umbrella anymore. With the price it is at, you would think it would be better made AND come with at least bolts to use for the bottom piece. I do not recommend this brand.

Just opened and set mine up. Quality of this umbrella is very good. Not light weight at all. Ribs are rectangular and very sturdy. Have heard oval ribs are stronger, but these look to be very strong. Had no issues with it operating. Some others complained ribs were binding. I believe they rough handled something and cranked away when they should be looking at what’s not working or is binding. Fabric is not lightweight but it may not be waterproof. Don’t plan on sitting out in the rain anyway. Will provide great shade. For the price I’m very impressed. If you want shade, this is it.

This umbrella far exceeded my expectations! I knew it was going to be big at 6.6 by 9.8 feet but until it came, I really didn't realize just how large it would be! The size of the umbrella wasn't the only thing that exceeded my expectations, this was made with a high degree of skill and craftsmanship. The frame itself is sturdy and strong, the materials are thick and the stitching is done very well. The canopy is operated by a crank shaft that is smooth and very easy to use. There is a vent in the top of the canopy so air can flow through it and it wont blow away. For as large as this umbrella is its relatively light weight and can easily carried from place to place. The push button tilt also works very well with little effort and there is a handy velcro loop for when you have the canopy down .I am going to have to buy a bigger table for this umbrella and my table will absolutely be coming from Abba patio!

I used this for a week when I was fixing a trailer in our yard, and it really provided a good shade from the Texas summer heat! The larger size helps cover a greater area, which is what I needed in the first place. It was so good that we also brought it along with us when we went camping! Protected us from the sun and light rain. Very happy with the purchase!Because the size is larger, it is also heavier -- which makes opening it a little tricky. To crank the umbrella open, you also need to help push it up with your other hand while your dominant hand is winding the crank handle. That is what I did to make it easier for me. Also, before you buy this outdoor umbrella, make sure you already have a heavy base to hold the pole up. This does not come with the base. You can buy it here on Amazon or any local home goods store. By the way, we fold the umbrella and keep it inside when not in use to prolong its life and keep the color from fading.Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to others.

Although not the most popular or highest rated—and certainly not the ost expensive—, this umbrella to my mind is unquestionably the best quality and best performing sand-implanted umbrella for 2 people available for use on beaches that are subject to very strong (>25 MPH) gusts. Most notable of all are 1. The telescoping pole seems truly indestructible and perfectly designed and constructed to make assembly/disassembly simple for one person 2. The sand corkscrew at the bottom tip has exceptionally wide fins, that makes it truly bite into the sand like a drill bit as you twist the pole clockwise, and once implanted is virtually impossible to pull straight out (completely preventing umbrella from “flying away” in strong updrafts). But it is simple to remove by rotating the pole counter-clockwise 3. The pole tilt mechanism is solidly constructed and simple to operate 4. The fiberglass rib canopy assembly is both elastic and exceedingly strong, providing both flexibility and strength (it will bend in high winds but never break or invert) 5. the polyester fabric forming the canopy is sufficiently hefty and quite glossy providing both rip-proof strength and rain protection (should it be needed). 5. The fabric is very snuggly anchored to the ribs by aluminum clamps, again assuring longevity and 6. 7 foot diameter of the canopy provides generous shade coverage for 2 beach chairs.The only “price” for all of the above, is yes, this umbrella is a few pounds heavier than its competitors. Trust me, it’s advantages are well worth every single pound!

This is an incredible sand umbrella and at a great price! We live in Florida and have gone through several different brands of beach umbrellas. This one is well made and can withstand heavy gust of winds. It does take a little more effort to screw into the sand but, I think that is because it has a larger base that allows it to be more stable. I highly recommend this brand/umbrella. We will be purchasing another one soon.

After reading the scary reviews about spooning in the sand I came up with an idea. Funnel it comes with very flimsy and difficult to use, impossible by yourself. I got creative and cut a water jug or milk jug, the opening fits nice and snug into the fill hole. I tye wrapped it to my fence to help hold in place and leaned the weight against the fence post. Fill with sand, when sand clumps up and wont go down, I used hose on jet setting, sand went in like water flushing down the toilet and had a nice sand to water ratio making the weights nice and heavy. Each one took me less then 5 minutes after coming up with this. I'm sure this will save a lot of DIY ers a lot of time!

This worked like a charm and fit the Abba 11' umbrella base perfectly. Here's the trick to fill it quickly with sand:1) Use DRY sand so it doesn't clump. I used Quikrete 1962-51 medium sand, and it says right on the package "kiln dried"2) Tape the funnel to the plate opening. The funnel doesn't fit inside the opening, for some reason. So just place it against the opening and tape it all the way around. Then you can pour the sand in quickly. Should take about a minute to fill each.

Appear to be well made and durable. Fit the stand on my umbrella perfectly and they are definitely required to keep the umbrella standing. I used one bag of paver sand in each unit (about 0.5 cubic ft) and it seemed just short of full. A minor problem was that my sand was moist in the plastic bags it came in so I could not simply pour the sand in. It took over an hour to spoon it in with a trowel. Not the maker's problem but something to keep in mind. Some people mentioned that the caps were difficult to remove - I had no problem prying them off with the trowel. After all, you want them to feel tight. Existing weight is 34-37 lbs. in each section and this weight seems sufficient even on windy days. I can add a little more sand and water if necessary.One problem I had is that the units tended to slip slightly as the pole flexed in the wind and I feared they could move off the flange on the cross legs of the base. To remedy this, I built a simple "collar" which keeps them in place. See the picture below. Obviously it is not attached to the units, it just keeps them from shifting. .

Real big disappointment to put the umbrella (and base) together & only after finishing to find out the solar lights Do Not Work -Worse yet was dealing with the 'customer service' - Wasted 3 days following their email policy (write problem, send picture & invoice) to try and get some help only to be told by email from someone half-way around the world that it was Amazon's problem, Not theirs - On the front of their install manual they proudly display 4 ways to contact 'service' and it was all a joke.......

Put it up today. Seems to be of great quality. Paired with mosquito net, speaker/light which attaches to pole, and base, stretchy tablecloth which were all from amazon. Chairs from Wal-mart. Lucked out that they matched perfectly. Old kitchen table and I drilled a hole in the center. It's my gazebo on a budget. After reading all the reviews of gazebos falling apart I decided this was the better option since I can take the umbrella in during bad weather. It's gorgeous. I'm very happy.

You get what you pay for. We purchased two of these after our last two (another name brand) finally gave out after 5 years. After one month of these new umbrellas being outside around our pool, both of them are leaking rust colored water all over our decking. Do not buy these. Spend a little more money to get a better quality product. Of course, our window of return ended late March as we purchased them a little earlier in the year to make sure we had them when the pool weather returned. Wishing we would’ve immediately put them outside to see what they were going to do so that we could’ve returned them and gone with something else.

Poor crank quality - it wobbles in all directions and feels like it will break any minute.The crank broke after 3 uses (outside the return period). . It could not be repaired. I paid $20 per use.If you get it, use it immediately to ensure you can return it if broken. Seller offered a new one at 20% discount but I definitely don’t need 2 broken umbrellas!

I was about to send this Texas-sized unit back as, at first sight, its dimensions and weight were much greater than the one I had just purchased at Home Depot for $30.00. After all, why would I need such a Rock of Gibraltar type set-up to keep my 10' patio umbrella firmly on terra firma??But, once I had set up the Home Depot base, I realized that, as always, you get what you pay for.1. What a difference the LARGE base of the Abba Patio base provides! It has 3+ times the area of "security/stability" / on-the-ground "anchor" factor as compared to that provided by the Hampton Bay "kindergarten - dollhouse" model.2. The Abba is made is of 55 pounds of good old 1/4" thick STEEL compared with Hampton's (and all other lower priced brands) concrete. After a season or two of climate change and dragging it back and forth across the patio, the Hampton types begin to disintegrate...at an ever rate.3. Whereas the Hampton Bay had ONLY 1 "delicately" sized screw for anchoring the pole to the base, the Abba had 2 "industrial" sized screws (to FIRMLY secure the umbrella pole once inside the Abba's stand's pole receiver).4. Add to that the super tight fit of the Abba pole receiver, as compared to the relatively sloppy fit of the Hampton Bay, and I had just one more reason confirming that the Abba is worth every extra dollar.FYI: Were a tornado to come through this part of town, the Abba stand is likely to be the only item that won't have blown away with the whirlwind....and that's why the Wicked Witch of the East has now made her home on our Abba Patio umbrella stand.Happily, it's large enough to allow Dorothy and Toto to hang out there too, when foul weather is rising east of Kansas.But, no room for those ugly flyng monkeys?!!?

Crazy, after over 1000 Amazon purchases this is by far the best. Really? Yep. Had an ongoing issue with a huge market umbrella that has a marble base. After 2 years of frustration continually loosening and tipping finding this base has been a serious blessing. I read the reviews and figured how good can this really be. It is everything everyone mentions on the positive reviews.It really big, really heavy (which is why maneuverability was rated a 4...and who moves these things anyways, one and done!!), super low center of gravity. The large diameter makes it extremely stable and hard to tip over. I always enjoy a well engineered product that was designed to do the mundane in the best possible way. Kudo's to the person who figured this out. Well worth the cost.

First the bad: I needed to be able to easily wheel my umbrella around to wherever it was needed to block the sun. If you tip this to just the right angle and you don’t have too bumpy a surface to go over, it sort of works, but honestly it is easier to just pick it up and carry it even though it is darn heavy. Now the good: Once I modified it by buying 4 bigger casters, drilling holes in the base and attaching them, it works like a charm. Its weight keeps it in place and provides a sturdy support for your umbrella and it is now very maneuverable. This would be a perfect product if the manufacturer would just save its customers the hassle of this aftermarket fix and do the wheels right the first time.
