The lights were very easy to install! They are beautiful when lit at night. For all those looking at these to purchase.. please be patient the first time you install and want to see lit - they take a couple days full sun to get charged enough to light. I am not certain I received a remote with this set - is why I put one star. If I find it, I’ll adjust the ratings to reflect.

The lights work well although they are not very bright. Not enough light to read by, but enough to carry on a conversation with someone and see them clearly. Lights last all night. Thought that they did not work at first, but then realized that you must turn on the switch at the side of the solar panel - then will charge up and work fine. Easy install as long as there is an air flap at the top of the umbrella. Light is not white, more soft golden. Overall, pleased with the product although I wish that the lights were a bit brighter.

Ordered 2 sets, total of 16 lights, and love them so far. They worked immediately out of the box and lasted all night until sunrise. I like that they are not on a strand and are individual lights. As it got dark the lights all started in the same color but over the night they were on different color rotation. Hope they continue to work, only had them one night. Will most likely keep them up after Christmas.Update: Still working but don’t stay on until morning which is not a big deal for me. If it rains really hard and then freezes bring them in. Some water got into two of them and froze and the glass broke. The lights kept working so I’ll keep in case some of the others stop working and I can replace.

These lights are very classy and I love them! They are heavier than I anticipated. I am reticent to hang them too high because they might shatter(?) or crack if they were to fall. I hung them on two evergreen bushes I have in from of my house. If hanging them high and outdoors, I recommend tying them with string or wire, just in case. Also, you will need sturdy branches because the weight could make the branch sag a little bit.

I just got a new umbrella because mine was damaged in a storm. So I was browsing for lights that would look nice at night while but being too bright. I came across these and wow! They are so awesome! I clipped mine at the ends right by where the seems meet and the pockets are for the poles. 8 exactly. The install was super easy. They are never all the same color at one time which makes a really beautiful ambient setting, yet they are not so bright it looks out of place since there are 8 of them. The solar power aspect makes them that much easier to deal with. Plus they are glass!! But not heavy glass where it weighs them down. I am able to crank the umbrella closed also without removing the lights because of where I placed them. They don’t touch at all. I highly recommend these! At this price you cannot beat the value. Such a nice surprise! Once again Amazon for the win!

**EDIT:One stopped lighting up after a week. I followed Richard C. Drew's instructions and also found odd oxidation of the Positive terminal. I cleaned it with acetone on a swab. The contacts still seemed loose, so I added a small square of plastic behind the Positive terminal. The two combined actions allowed me to get it to light, but the contacts still seem loose. So I don't know how it will stand up to being outside, given the winds we often get here. As Richard C. Drew said, It should not mater if a handy person can *manage* to get it working; the oxidation problem should be taken care of at manufacture. Maybe a coating of electronic gel or something? It's a shame, because they are otherwise good bright lights...Previous Review:These little lights are really nice so far! I've had them outside for a few days and so far, so good.There were no instructions, but all I did was turn them over, press the solar cell against my leg to block any light, and push the button, and they came on. I set them outside and they worked fine from the outset.We had a day of of-and-on torrential rain, and it got so dark several times that the light tried to come on, but it still collected enough energy to light up very brightly when night came, and remain lit for several hours.They're described as being "6.6 feet" and I did get a "relaxed" measure of bit over 6 feet. Since the description was quite clear on that, I can't fault the item on the basis of length, especially given how bright the individual LEDs are.

I set these in the sun these for a couple of days then tried them out - I obviously wanted to make sure they were charged. Two worked fine. I had to keep rapping one with my knuckles and it would only flicker. The last one was dead. So I dismantled them - this is just 4 small screws. On the upside, there's a replaceable battery. On the downside, the negative ends of the batteries were corroded as were the springs they press against - a little buffing with a fine grit polished them and removed the oxidation (I used a small manicure sanding sponge I borrowed from my GF). After this all four worked fine.But this should not have been necessary. I'm a tinkerer/handyman so something like this was no biggie for me, but my GF would have simply returned them.Testing: Stick them in the sun for a day or two. Then cover the panel with your hand and press the power button. There's no "click" so you really can't tell when it's pressed - just keep the panel covered and press the button a couple of times until the lights come on.

I love solar lights, as its easy to run lights in my yard without have to run low voltage lines everywhere, digging up the yard and later dealing with line cuts and failures. Plus this is just easier- just clip and go. Been working for 2 weeks, and hold up all night. Reasonably bright too. A few downsides- they strands are a bit short 6.6 feet doesn't give you a ton of options. Would like to see at least 10 feet. On/off switch is a bit vague- I could not tell if you were on or not- had to go to a dark room to confirm they were on. Zero instructions in my box- the sale page here has all the information you get.

I struggled a little putting these on. I'm short umbrella's tall, finally turned in upside down on living room floor. It would have been easier if the lights came with clips instead of zip ties. Light isn't as bright as it seems in the photo. It's a softer warm light enough so you can sit and see who you're talking to. Best thing is no patio light less bugs. I installed them in the morning and by the time it was dark about 9 PM they lit up. I leave the on and they go on and off as the sun rises and set. They seem to last all night. I'm really satisfied with this purchase.

Update: Went to use this fall and they wouldn't work at all. The battery pack (which was covered and we had severe drought so dry) was completely deteriorated. I can't even take down with ease bc i installed along side the solar ones. Used new, quality batteries, it's not from battery leakage.Orginal: I installed these along side a set of solar ones to use as back up if the solar ones weren't working. I haven't used them much bc the solar ones are FANTASTIC.Okay so these are easy enough to install, they come with plenty of zipties and the rope-like texture of the lights is easy to work with. The clip pack holds the AA batteries and seems to seal tight. The lights are bright.What i don't like the wire to the battery pack /clip is WAY to short and to compound the problem the remote range is AWFUL. Do you see where my battery back is clipped up, that's as far down as it will go and you have to stand under and fully stretch as close as you can get to get the remote to work... I'm really glad the solar ones work and i haven't needed these. Also why sooo many modes most of them are close enough to be the same, instead increase your wire length, or improve remote

These where easy enough to install the soft rope-like texture kept them from getting tangled. I really appreciate the length of wire to go to the solar clip part. The clip has held up well, the lights come on and go off automatically. We've had them up for 3 weeks with no problems even in a couple of windstorms (north Chicagoland). Make sure you pull the film off your solar panel. We let it charge a full day and then fiddled with the power and modes buttons.
